UK light bite and smoothie company, Energy Kitchen, has taken its first steps into international operation, having secured the catering contract for the prestigious Loeb department store in Bern, Switzerland. The contract includes two branded outlets within the store, plus catering in the staff canteen and for events.

The 90-seater restaurant on Loeb’s 4th floor is a branded free-flow concept. Energy Kitchen will be offering customers the pretzels, juices and smoothies that it is famous for in the UK, as well as soups, sandwiches, hot food, coffees and bakery products. “We have added items such as coffees and bakes to our menu, but we will remain true to our mantra to keep everything as healthy and light as possible without compromising on quality and taste,” explained Energy Kitchen founder, Christian Gierstorfer.

The second Energy Kitchen lounge in Loeb will open in May and will resemble current offerings in Selfridges and Harrods; that is, a counter serving healthy light bites, juices and smoothies. In the Loeb staff canteen, Energy Kitchen will be catering for the 250 permanent and temporary staff who rely on the canteen on a daily basis.
Christian continued, “We have ambitious expansion plans for Energy Kitchen, both in the UK and abroad, and the Loeb contract is a giant leap in the right direction for us. However, we are not one of those companies that would sacrifice product and service quality simply for the sake of rapid growth, so we are really looking forward to developing our offering in Loeb into a reliable, destination eatery for customers that will benefit everyone involved.”

A new team will be put in place in Switzerland to run the new Loeb outlets, whilst the UK team continues to run Energy Kitchen’s six well-established UK outlets, which include the London, Birmingham and Manchester Selfridges food halls, Harrods Food Hall and Swindon’s Designer Outlet.
